About
Asher Goldschmidt is a multi-award-winning, classically trained composer of film music, whose diverse musical background spans classical, modern, electronic, and metal genres, with roots in metal and rock music giving his compositions a unique edge. He blends classical orchestration with modern sound design, often collaborating with musicians to bring in unique instrumental colors, ranging from Middle Eastern to medieval and Eastern European folk instruments. His style is versatile, adapting to the emotional needs of each story while maintaining a distinctive, evocative sound.
He has scored numerous international films and series, including HBO Europe’s ‘The Informant’, the BBC series ‘In the Name of the Father’, and the epic historical drama ‘Rise of the Raven’, produced by Robert Lantos (‘Sunshine’, ‘Eastern Promises’). ‘Rise of the Raven’, one of the most ambitious and epic historical dramas ever made in Europe, became the most viewed content in Hungary in recent years, with over two million viewers weekly and distribution in numerous countries.
His work on ‘Shake Your Cares Away’, produced by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Michel Hazanavicius, and ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Gael García Bernal, also stand out among his notable achievements. He scored ‘White God’ by Kornél Mundruczó, which won the prestigious Un Certain Regard award at Cannes and was Hungary’s official submission for the Academy Awards.
Based in Hungary, Asher composes for film and television projects across the globe.
