With a prolific background in music that runs the gamut from classical to modern to alternative/electronic/metal, Asher Goldschmidt is a classically trained composer who has successfully created scores, arrangements and orchestrations for numerous films.
As an internationally acclaimed film music composer, his most recent work has been for the Israeli mini series In the Name of the Father directed by Bat Dor Ojalvo and is aired on BBC in May 2023. Previous to this he worked on the soundtrack of the HBO Europe series The Informant created by Bálint Szentgyörgyi, that was the most viewed content in Hungary in 2022 and was released in 61 countries around the world in several languages. In the same year he composed music for the documentary The Camera of Doctor Morris by the directors Meital Zvieli and Itamar Alkalay, which earned him the Best Music Award of the Israeli Documentary Filmmakers Forum.
In 2021 he won the Best Score Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival with his work on the Israeli feature film Shake Your Cares Away written and directed by Tom Shoval, with Bérénice Bejo starring and with Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Michel Hazavanicius as executive producers.
This recent effort follows his soundtrack for the  AMC/Blumhouse crime documentary series No One Saw a Thing directed by Avi Belkin (Mike Wallace Is Here). In 2018 he worked with the director Sara Colangelo (Little Accidents, Night Sky) on the Kindergarten Teacher - an American feature film (with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Gael García Bernal) that won the coveted Best Direction Award at Sundance Film Festival. Prior to this, he had created the soundtrack for White God, a feature film by Kornél Mundruczó (Pieces of a Woman, Jupiter's Moon) that not only won Cannes' prestigious Un Certain Regard section but became the Hungary's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards. In the same year he was nominated for the Ophir Award by the Israeli Academy of Film and Television for Best Original Score for the film Echo by Assaf Snir and Amikam Kovner. In the same year he was once again nominated by the Israeli Television Academy. This time for a Best Original Music Award in recognotion of his work on The Conductor, a series created and directed by Alon Zingman (Shtisel).
Besides receiving accolades for his work on films with greater international exposure, he has also scored numerous Israeli feature and documentary films including Netalie Braun's Hope I'm in the Frame, winner of Best Documentary 2017 at the Israeli Film Academy Awards. He has also worked with notable Israeli documentarists the likes of Emmy Award winner Zippi Brand Frank, David Ofek and Ran Tal (The Museum), in addition to scoring Beyond the Mountains and Hills, a feature film by the auteur Eran Kolirin (of the Band's Visit repute) that was premiered at the Un Certain Regard section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
Having been born in Hungary and having lived 20 years in Israel, he currently divides his time between the capitals of both respective countries.
